The Different Poker Games Explained

Many newcomers to the game of poker will understand that there are a few different ways and rules to play poker. This post explains how each poker game is played, understanding the different poker games are important before you play.
Texas holdem

This is the most common type of poker game, which is played all around the world. Between 2-10 players can take part and each round has 4-10 betting rounds. The player is dealt 2 cards (face down), and 5 community cards (face up). The player which ends with the best five-card poker hand at the wins. The game is popular because it is fast and simple.
Omaha

Omaha is increasing in popularity and has similarities to Texas holdem. Like with Texas holdem, 2-10 player can take part. Each player is dealt 4 cards (face down), and then 5 cards which are face-up for all players to see. The player must then combined 2 of their first 4 cards with 3 of the 5 cards and make the greatest hand.
Seven card stud

Between 2-8 players can play this poker game. There is an initial betting ante, which is followed by 5 betting rounds. Each player gets 3 cards (face down), followed by 4 cars which are visible to all players. The main aim of Seven-Card Stud is to make the best possible five-card poker hand with all seven cards.
Caribbean stud poker

This poker game is totally different than all explained above, this is because the player plays opposed to the casino, which performs as the dealer. Players don’t compete with each other, and to win a round must simply beat the dealer’s hand. This article should help you decide which game you prefer, most games are available in both online and offline casinos.
Five card draw

This is the oldest game of poker, which can  be played with between 2-5 players. An initial ante is followed by 2 rounds of betting. Players then get 5 cards (face down), and can discard or draw up to 5 cards once the first betting round has finished. The player which ends with the greatest five-card poker hand wins the pot.
